WASKOM, Texas (KLTV) - A Waskom man was arrested after he sexually assaulted and kidnapped a woman, the Waskom Police Department said.

Xavier La’Ron Cooks, 34, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one measuring between one and four grams.

Police were called around 5:36 p.m. Tuesday to an assault report at the Hood Apartments on West Texas Avenue.

When officers arrived, the police department said a female victim reported she had been held against her will by Cooks since the previous evening. The woman said she had been physically assaulted, choked and threatened with a gun.
