A serial thief in his mid-50s, who has been busted in communities across the Lower Mainland for break-and-enters dating to the late 1990s, is facing 18 new charges related to home break-ins in Burnaby.
Burnaby RCMP announced Wednesday that Shane Conrad Takakenew was arrested a month ago after an “extensive investigation” into a series of residential break-and-enters between September 2023 and June 2024.
Takakenew was charged in May and was arrested on 14 warrants in Burnaby on Aug. 27. He faces seven counts of break-and-enter, nine counts of possession of stolen property and two for allegedly breaching a release order.
Also facing nine counts for possession of stolen property in the investigation is 34-year-old Fabiola Diaz of Burnaby.
