GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A new study lists Gainesville among the most expensive metro areas for renters.
Researchers from “Lawn Love” conducted the study out of 196 metros. Florida and California dominated the top 25 spots, with Gainesville ranked at No. 11.
The study was based on overall rent prices, average income and real estate inflation.
Findings show that more than six in 10 renters spend over 30% of their income on housing and utilities.
Gainesville rose in rankings from last year’s study, where it was listed at No. 18.
Rent Cafe reports the average rent for an apartment in Gainesville to be $1,801 for an average apartment size of 1,014 square feet.
