With local streets now plastered with corflutes of candidates you’ve likely never heard of, it’s a colourful and chaotic reminder that the 2025 WA local government elections have well and truly started.

In the City of Joondalup, where seven candidates are vying to replace retiring mayor Albert Jacob, councillor Christine Hamilton-Prime’s campaign is attracting attention from residents — though perhaps not for the reasons she would have hoped for.

Her campaign pamphlets have raised eyebrows for their similarity to Labor Party material when placed side by side, despite her being a member of the WA Liberal Party.
