WASHINGTON —

More than 150 member countries of the United Nations now recognize a Palestinian state .

The latest countries to do so include the United Kingdom, Australia, Portugal and Canada on Sunday.

The next day, several other countries recognized a Palestinian state during a summit at the United Nations headquarters hosted by France and Saudi Arabia. The goal of the meeting on the first day of an annual gathering of world leaders was to revive a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A UN commission said Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to findings released Sept. 16.
