CLEVELAND, Ohio - West Side drivers likely will soon have to slow down a smidgen on one major street, the result of the city’s latest efforts to make roadways safer for both motorists and pedestrians.
After a lengthy study process that involved a review from state officials, the Cleveland Planning Commission last week approved a plan to reduce the speed limit on Lake Avenue from 35 mph to 30 mph.
The change is expected to take place before the end of the year, a City Hall spokesperson said.
Lake Avenue is frequently traveled by motorists between the end of the West Shoreway and the Lakewood border at West 117th Street, and beyond. The speed limit change will also extend east to the intersection with Detroit Road near West 75th Street.
