HAGAMAN, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The conversation about garbage pickup services in the Village of Hagaman has been ongoing since October 2024. Now residents will soon be seeing a garbage fee.

The village of Hagaman had County Waste as its garbage pickup company for a couple of years now. However, when their contract expired, they were told by County Waste that their monthly pick-up bill would be doubled. According to village leaders that would go way over their budget.

“The general fund was paying for all of the garbage fees for all the residents. And then when it became available that the County Waste charge was going to more than double, that is when the discussion started happening that we can’t sustain that.
