OMAHA, Neb. —

The former executive director of the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission has been indicted on federal charges.

The FBI and Nebraska attorney general made the announcement on Wednesday.

Hobert Rupe served on the commission for more than 20 years before resigning in June.

Rupe has been charged with multiple federal offenses of conspiracy and fraud.

The investigation alleged that Rupe received a "stream of benefits" from Lincoln strip club owner Brent Zywiec for three years.

These "benefits" include sex acts, free drinks, cash and free entry to two lounges in exchange for official actions by the commission.

Rupe is accused of using his position to receive the benefits and deliberately not reporting illegal activity at the clubs.
