QUINCY TWP., MI — A male driver crashed into the back of a slowing eastbound semi-trailer truck on U.S. 12 shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Quincy Police Chief Dalton Turmell said first responders cut the lone occupant from the driver's seat.

Trumell said LifeCare transported the driver to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for care because of his severe injuries.

A Michigan State Police Commercial Carrier officer conducted a mandatory investigation of the semi driver.

Branch County Sheriff Department deputies closed off the highway for nearly an hour while the vehicles were removed and Turmell conducted his investigation.

The crash took place just east of Fox Road near the entrance to Longstreet Furniture.
