PALMYRA, Maine (WABI) - It is now officially fall, and with that comes the signature items like the pumpkin. What you might not see often are pink pumpkins.

Pat’s Propane located on Main St. in Palmyra has been selling pink pumpkins in the fall for seven years, with proceeds going to cancer research.

It’s put together by Pat White, the owner of the propane business, along with his good friend Jo-Ann Brown.

“One of my sisters died of breast cancer, and the other one is a 26, 27-year survivor,” said Brown. “So, but there’s cancer all through my family so we just have to do something.”

The two say that it’s become a tradition for many. Every September, that means heading to the stand and seeing what it has to offer.
