MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) – Ten million dollars will be put into early childhood education in Montgomery County. The funding aims to expand Head Start services and will provide additional support for child care providers.

“I’m excited about this because I know how important this is,” Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said. “If we are making investments in the state of Maryland to try to raise achievement in schools, there is no more important way, no more important way, to put the money than to put it into early childhood education.”

Data shows a significant gap in child care services, especially for children in underserved communities. The investment will help address that.
