LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A panel discussion in Lafayette tonight highlighted the importance of upcoming millage renewal elections, urging voters to support critical local services.

The elections, scheduled for October 11 and November 15, will determine funding for the Bayou Vermilion District, the Lafayette Parish School System, roads, bridges, and the public health unit.

Kathleen Espinoza, spokesperson for the League of Women Voters of Lafayette, emphasized the significance of these upcoming elections.

"These are ways for people living in Lafayette Parish, working in Lafayette Parish to really weigh in a very democratic way on things that affect their lives every single day." Espinoza said.
