SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - September is National Preparedness Month, and every day objects can become dangerous during a disaster and in day-to-day life.

Experts recommend conducting a home safety tour to look for items in your home that pose a risk to safety. For this tour, we started in the kitchen by examining the refrigerator, which can be dangerous if it is free-standing.

Next, we examined the cabinets, and upon opening them, discovered several chemicals. “You may look under the sink and see what you have. You’ll have a lot of stuff in here that could be dangerous if it were to spill out and combine. So just make sure the lids are tight,” said Chief Rich Stirts of the Loganville-Rogersville Fire Protection District.
