Fox News' Greg Gutfeld tried to blame the Democratic Party for recent acts of political violence on Fox News' "The Five" while denying any Republican Party responsibility for right-wing violence — and the panel's resident Democrat, Jessica Tarlov, wasn't having it.
"Two things can be true: a person can be mentally ill, and you can be guiding him to that place in his life. That is how brainwashing works," said Gutfeld.
"There is a litany of examples—" began Tarlov.
"You will not have them," barked Gutfeld. "If I gave you two months to look for them, you couldn't find them, because they've been debunked!"
"Really?" Tarlov shot back, rattling off examples of right-wing political murders, including the recent assassination of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman, as Gutfeld continued to talk over her.
"The guy who killed Esther Salas' son has been debunked?" Tarlov said. "Dylann Roof has been debunked? Vance Boelter and his list of dozens of Democrats — sure, go ahead and talk about it."
"Okay, you want to talk about it? Okay," said Gutfeld. "There was not a relentless drumbeat for ten years about his victims like there was here. There was an intent and a motive for her killing by her killer alone. It wasn't The Five, it wasn't National Review, it wasn't any show going...hopefully someone will take her out. That never happened!"
"That is why your analogy is so pointless and desperate!" he continued.
Gutfeld notably didn't provide any examples of Democratic lawmakers or liberal media personalities doing any of these things either.
"It's pipe bombs being sent to Democrats' houses," said Tarlov. "People saying in court, I was inspired by Donald Trump!"
"If you want to do this math, you're going to be embarrassed," said Gutfeld.
"According to you, I'm embarrassed every day, so frankly, I'm just feeling normal," retorted Tarlov, to the general laughter of the panel.
