Dear Editor:

To all the baseball fans out there, here is something for all of you to consider as the 2025 regular season comes to a conclusion. When the day comes that Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer retire and are elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, no other starting pitcher will ever be elected afterwards. They will be the last three pitchers who will ever finish their careers with stats worthy of admission.

The game has changed so that between injuries and most starting pitchers’ barely lasting five innings per start, no pitcher in the future will ever have stats good enough for election.
