The MBTA is facing a deadline from the Trump administration in order to avoid federal funding cuts.

His request comes in the form of a letter after a couple of incidents, including one in which an elderly woman was pushed from a bus in Roxbury.

"The bus operator, transit police, they did respond as they were trained," said MBTA General Manager Phil Eng. The federal government is calling on the MBTA "to reduce crime, vagrancy and fare evasion," threatening to pull funds from the transit system.
