HERMANTOWN, Minn. (Northern News Now) - After speculation around a plot of land has swirled for months, the City of Hermantown has now provided more information on a large data center being proposed in the southwest corner of the city.

A footprint for the 1.8 million square foot facility was laid out in a 400-page environmental review document shared by the city last week.

According to that document, the facility would be located on land at the corner of Midway Road and Morris Thomas Road and would include four large buildings and accompanying office and warehouse space.

Data centers are typically comprised of servers, storage, and IT infrastructure.
