More than $284,000 has been awarded to 40 northeast Indiana entities to support arts projects and organizations.

The northeast organizations are among 345 entities that received a combined more than $2.4 million, the Indiana Arts Commission announced Wednesday. More than 130 external grant reviewers considered the 545 applications the commission received.

Dave Haist, commission chair, described this as an exciting time for many organizations and communities.

“Each of our commissioners believe deeply in the critical importance of the arts in making Indiana a place for all to want to live and work and for those not within our state to consider Indiana as a place to locate their families and businesses and invest in Indiana’s future,” he said in a statement.
