GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCBD) — Residents in Georgetown’s West-End say they’ve had enough of the gun violence plaguing their community and they’re teaming up with law enforcement to push for change.

Community leaders and neighbors recently joined police officers on a walk through the West-End, aiming to spread awareness and call for safer streets.

“Now we have to lock our front doors when we come here and that’s not safe and that’s not cool and it ain’t right. We got to take our neighborhood back,” said resident Willette Grant.

Some neighbors say the violence feels personal.

“I see a lot, and I had a very dear friend not to mention I’m a bus driver, so I come in contact with a lot of the children on the bus. And when you see a child that’s gotten shot, and I have to look at them on the groun
