The deadline has passed for the public release of a report on whether Canada should buy the controversial F-35 fighter jet with the defence minister now refusing to discuss the document.

Defence Minister David McGuinty had committed to the public release of the document by the end of summer, which the department earlier confirmed to be Sept. 20-Sept. 22 .

But those dates came and went with no word about what will happen with the report.

McGuinty’s office did not respond to a request for comment on when the report is going to be released and why it was not released on schedule.
