The USD 253 Board of Education approved a $79,400 change order for the new track construction at Emporia Middle School during its regular board meeting Wednesday.

The change order is for Boring water and sewer lines, installing conduit for district use, bringing power to the site, permits and engineering, and conduit for future lighting needs.

The change order brings the total cost of the project to $3,719,146. The budget source for the additional funds will come from the Capital Outlay account.

The contract for the renovated track and field space was signed in June. Construction began early in the summer and has continued into the beginning of the school year.
