A South Jersey tradition continues Thursday night September 25th, with a celebration of and for "The Old Boys."

Back in the 1930s, a party was held for a man who was turning 82 at the time. A dozen of his close friends, the youngest being 70, turned out. Over the years, it became a regular tradition for men of this certain age to gather annually for music, fun and fellowship.

The Salem County American Legion Band and a vocal quartet will perform Thursday night at Salem County Vocational Technical High School in Mannington. Guests will enjoy ice cream and cake and a few wisecracks about getting older. The "youngest old boy" and the "oldest old boy" will also get special recognition.

Admission is free, and registration is not required.
