CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. –The Cabell-Huntington Health Department will be one of the organizations participating in Save a Life Day, an initiative aimed at providing education, raising awareness, and distributing free naloxone (Narcan) to the public.
The initiative, which began in 2020 in West Virginia, has now expanded nationwide, with all 50 states distributing free naloxone.
Prevention Specialists with CHHD Michelle Perdue said this is important because someone could overdose at any time.
“You never know if someone is having an issue, even with people who are prescribed with medications coming out of the hospital, they may get a pain medication, someone may have forgotten they’ve taken one too many, so it’s good for everyone to have naloxone in their medicine cabinet,” Perdue said.
