LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNW) -- The Nebraska Attorney General's Office has announced that the state is suing the manufacturer of a brand of home security cameras, claiming they can be easily hacked and monitored.

The lawsuit against Lorex Corporation and Lorex Technology Inc. claims the company is deceiving customers about the security of its cameras. Lorex was previously owned by Dahua, a Chinese manufacturer of surveillance equipment that the U.S. government blacklisted due to its involvement in surveillance and oppression of ethic minorities in China.

The company was sharing its customers' data, including video and audio, with the Chinese government. In 2022, the FCC banned the company's products in the United States over national security concerns. Dahua then sold the company to Lorex, based
