Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson will not request a trade or release out of the New York Giants organization, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.

Wilson was benched by head coach Brian Daboll this week, with rookie Jaxson Dart taking over the mantle instead. In his three starts, Wilson went 0-3 and was up-and-down, and with the team desperate to get going, they turn to Wilson as the potential answer.

“Russell Wilson is not going to ask for a release or tradeHe’s not giving up the Giants,” Dunleavy wrote.

Dart shined in the preseason, but Daboll said the team had a plan and named Wilson the starter. After just three games, the team will move to Dart and find out what they have in the rookie.
