McAllen, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen has earned the national rank of top #20 in the U.S. News & World Report's 2025-2026 best places to live, according to a news release.

The annual 'Best Places to Live' report evaluates 250 cities across the United States based on four factors: affordability, strong job market, good value, and overall quality of life.

The City of McAllen joins six other Texas cities, rounding out the top 20 list, earning an overall score of 6.8 out of 10.

The news release recognizes McAllen's ongoing development and quality of life as why it is one of the best places to call home.

In 2024, McAllen previously ranked #48 out of 150 cities in the 2024-205 report, earning an overall score of 6.4.
