CHELAN, Wash. – The Knapps Hill Tunnel on US 97A near Chelan has reopened, two days earlier than planned, the Department of Transportation announced.
The tunnel’s new lighting system, featuring 160 lights, was installed to enhance safety by adjusting to daylight levels.
The 17-day closure, completed in just 15 days, included new wiring and conduits, making travel safer through the tunnel.
