For Fred Davis, art is life.
His latest work-a children's alphabet book that he wrote and illustrated-showcases his talents and resilience, eclipsing the traumatic brain injury he suffered years ago due to a blood-clotting disorder.
His sister, Leann McCafferty, says Davis spent two weeks in a coma. When he woke up, the family feared he'd never draw again.
But Davis, who graduated from the University of the Arts in 2008, remained determined to continue capturing the world around him through art.
His family says that while he now struggles with speech, he hopes the new book will help children-and others like him-improve their ability to pronounce words.
