CHEYENNE – Laramie County Library System officials say they're trying to take a proactive approach to address potential statewide legislation that librarians across the state have testified could bring financial ruin to local libraries.

This approach comes in the form of a makeover of the library system’s collection development policy and the creation of a reconsideration policy. These policies are intended to guide library staff as they determine which materials are brought into the library and how some are considered for removal or relocation.

Both policies were discussed during a meeting of the Laramie County Library System (LCLS) Board of Directors at the Burns Branch Library on Tuesday.
