Tri-County Landfill, Inc.'s application for "reargument" has been denied by the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, according to a news release from the Citizens' Environmental Association of the Slippery Rock Area (CEASRA).
The permit was denied after the landfill was deemed non-exempt from a state regulation prohibiting facilities within 10,000 feet of an airport runway.
If the permit had been approved, Tri-County Landfill, Inc. would have been allowed to intake up to 40,000 tons of waste for 24 hours a day, six days a week.
As of Wednesday, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania has issued its decision, denying the company's request for oral arguments to be heard on the issue again.
