HARTFORD, Conn. — Hartford's mayor said Wednesday that the city plans to replace an old data processing center with a multi-million-dollar artificial intelligence center, aiming to attract companies and boost the city's workforce.

Mayor Arunan Arulampalam described the former data center building on 150 Windsor St. as an "eyesore."

“It's been this big, ugly building. It's been an eyesore for those passing by on the highway on 91. It's right behind Dunkin' Donuts Park. We're looking to demolish it and we've got some state funding to do so,” Arulampalam said.

He noted that the goal in bringing the new AI center to the three-acre property is "to build out the most advanced workforce for the technology of tomorrow" and to "ensure that as these technology changes come, the city of Hartford
