: Assam Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia has written to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her to order a CBI probe led by a High Court Judge into the sudden death of cultural icon Zubeen Garg in Singapore on September 19.

In his memorandum, Saikia expressed “serious concerns” over the suspicious circumstances surrounding Garg’s death, alleging a possible conspiracy and political targeting. He argued that while the Assam government has handed the case to the CID, the jurisdictional limitations of state police in investigating a death abroad require intervention from central agencies.
