A violent machete brawl has erupted between two groups of men in a Broadmeadows Central shopping centre car park, just four weeks after Victoria’s new machete ban came into effect.

Footage obtained by 7NEWS shows the clash unfolding just metres from a machete amnesty bin. One man wearing a beanie advances on another man in a balaclava, who appears to get a machete caught in his jumper.

The balaclava-clad man is thrown to the ground as several others rush in. One man attempts to calm the situation while the original aggressor runs off.

The incident left one man hospitalised, but no arrests have been made.
