“Survivor 49” kicked off with a two-hour premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

As is often the case with “Survivor” premieres, the episode was largely dedicated to tribe dynamics and people getting to know each other. The Hina tribe got the least screen time of the three. The group’s main story lines were 52-year-old Matt Williams feeling disadvantaged because of his age and Steven Ramm worrying that he’ll find himself on the outs like he has in the past.

“I grew up being bullied , being picked on, not feeling like I 100 percent always belonged,” Steven said in a confessional. “What if I’m the first person that they all, when I’m gone, are like, ‘We gotta get rid of Steven?’ That’s really tough.”

Despite his fears, Steven seems to be forming a bond with Matt thus far.
