ELLENSBURG, Wash. – A new program in Ellensburg to restore the community's beauty by tackling graffiti is taking shape.
The Ellensburg Police Department, in collaboration with the Morning Rotary Club, launched a graffiti abatement program to relieve property owners of the burden of cleaning graffiti, recognizing them as victims of crime.
"Well essentially what we wanted to do is start a program to where we could get this graffiti cleaned up," said Police Captain Cameron Clasen. "Because essentially these property owners are victims of crimes and it shouldn't be their burden to clean this up. And so we reached out to some community partners to see if they would help with that."
