LOS ANGELES — The Board of Education of the Los Angeles Unified School District has voted unanimously to renew Superintendent Alberto Carvalho’s contract for another four years.
Board members said that since assuming leadership of the nation’s second-largest school system in February 2022, Carvalho has guided Los Angeles Unified through “unprecedented challenges and remarkable achievements” including the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and, more recently, wildfires that devastated Los Angeles communities.
