HUNTINGTON — Marshall University quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson is the type of leader that could have teammates running through a wall, but he’s also going to lower the boom and go through first.

“The thing about Carlos, he has fun in practice,” Marshall football coach Tony Gibson said. “He talks trash to the defense. He’s got the black jersey on, so he knows he can’t get hit. He’s one of the only quarterbacks I’ve ever been around that asks to take the jersey off so he can get hit. He’s that kind of guy.”

Del Rio-Wilson brought hardware back from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in a 42-28 win over Middle Tennessee State last weekend. He was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week after going 18 for 22 with 261 yards and four touchdowns. He added 22 yards and another score
