Elon Musk’s X has faced a legal setback in India. The Karnataka High Court has dismissed the platform’s challenge to the country’s stricter content moderation rules.
X had filed the case in March, targeting the government’s expanded censorship framework.
But the court ruled the petition had no merit, with Justice M Nagaprasanna stating that regulating social media content is essential.
Since 2023, India has increased its control over online content, allowing more officials to issue takedown orders directly to tech companies via a government portal launched in October.
This ruling marks a key moment in India’s push to tighten its grip on the digital space.
