What’s in a name?

In the case of the Carolina Thunderbirds becoming the Twin City Thunderbirds, not much is expected to change.

The Thunderbirds have been a part of the Triad for eight seasons, and new majority owner Cary Ross is excited about what’s ahead.

The good news is there’s a different logo. The better news is that ticket prices are the same as last season. The team will still play its games at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena.

Ross and his wife, Lisa, have been minority owners of the Carolina Thunderbirds since day one, when Barry Soskin brought back pro hockey to Winston-Salem. After Soskin, who owned parts of four other teams in the league, was asked to leave t he Federal Prospects Hockey League , Ross stepped up to ensure the Thunderbirds stayed.
