DWP benefit claimants have received Government bonus payments of £1,200, worth a total of £220 million. The scheme has been extended until April 2027, allowing many more people to take part and see extra cash go into their accounts.

Help to Save is a Government savings scheme offering low-income earners on Universal Credit a 50 per cent bonus on their savings. People can deposit between £1 and £50 each month and earn an extra 50p for every £1 they put in.

Savers who deposit a maximum £2,400 over the scheme's four-year duration get a £1,200 bonus, which is paid straight into their bank accounts at the end of the second and fourth years.
