Both the U.S. Department of Transportation and Delta Air Lines have been actively making significant changes in recent weeks and months.

The recent modifications have sparked controversy.

Among them was Delta changing its vocabulary , adding the term "Gulf of America." When asked about the change, Delta stated the changes were "mandated by the FAA."

More controversial changes have taken place, including Delta ending a joint international venture with a major airline in Mexico . Again, this was not Delta's decision, but was mandated by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The major change sees Delta's working relationship with Aeromexico cut.
