SRINAGAR : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a preliminary inquiry into alleged violations of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh (HIAL), an official confirmed on Thursday, as per multiple media reports. According to the official, the inquiry began about two months ago following a complaint from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and remains ongoing. Wangchuk said a CBI team visited him around 10 days ago with an “order” citing the MHA’s complaint on alleged violations, reports The Indian Express.
