ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — As the fall season begins with an increase in colorful foliage, New York State is continuing to see residuals of the summer drought.

According to this week's Fall Foliage report, portions of the state, mainly in the Adirondacks and throughout the Catskills, are nearing the peak of foliage colors, as others, such as the Finger Lakes, are just beginning to see the colors change.

While the transition is one many look forward to, recent weather conditions have been said to have the potential to impede the brightness of and timing of foliage as it reaches its colorful peak.

The drought has continued to worsen, as the New York State Drought Conditions map shows the Adirondacks are experiencing a drought warning, and the Finger Lakes are placed under a drought watch.
