Kirkland Lake’s Teck Centennial Library was recently closed for a short while as they dealt with damage in the adult department; the result of a significant leak in the roof.

The library is back open and, with the exception of some programming that will be on hold for a little while longer, it is business as usual at the facility.

In an interview with the Northern News, Jordan Ayres, program and communications coordinator explained what occurred.

“There was basically water damage that impacted the ceiling which caused the ceiling to cave in to (a part) of the adult department.”

Ayres noted the closure caused a major disruption in service that severally impacted their patrons.

As she pointed out, the facility is not just a storage facility for books.
