GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. ( KKTV /Gray News) - A jury has awarded more than $200 million to the family of a girl who fell off a Colorado amusement park ride in 2021.

The settlement rules in favor of the family’s claim that the park was negligent in the child’s death.

It is one of the largest wrongful death lawsuit settlements for a single plaintiff in Colorado history.

Wongel Estifanos was just 6 years old when she was killed while riding the Haunted Mine Drop at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.

The ride is a vertical drop; riders are strapped in, then their seats plummet more than 100 feet.

Wongel was never buckled in, according to the lawsuit.
