The 2025 Ryder Cup is less than 24 hours away as the world's best golfers prepare to tee off at the prestigious Bethpage Black course in Farmingdale, New York.

One notable player absent from the U.S. Ryder Cup team this year is the legendary Tiger Woods. The 15-time major champion was neither selected as one of the 12 golfers nor appointed as the team captain, primarily because he is prioritizing his health and other obligations.

Although Woods was considered for the captaincy, he declined the opportunity, opting instead to take on additional responsibilities as a member of the PGA Tour Policy Board and the PGA Tour Enterprises Board of Directors. However, he made it clear that this does not rule out the possibility of serving as team captain in the future.

Woods is also currently recovering from March 2025 surgery to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon. His most recent participation was in a few TGL matches, a technology-driven professional golf league he co-founded with Rory McIlroy. Before that, Woods' last appearance in a PGA event was at the Open Championship in July 2024, where he missed the cut. It remains uncertain when he will return to the golf course.
