AMES, Iowa (KCCI) - KCCI reports that Caitlyn Spencer, an Iowa State University employee, has been fired after making a social media post about the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which led to an investigation by the Board of Regents.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported that Spencer’s post said Kirk “got what was coming” due to his vehement support of the right to bear arms. This post was reposted by President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani.
KCCI received a copy of the notice of termination sent to Spencer by the university, which stated that she violated her ethical obligations as a Financial Aid Professional.
The Board of Regents is investigating social media posts by employees in the wake of Kirk’s death.
