For years residents and visitors have been warned about high E. coli levels and pollution. False Creek’s water quality is considered “not suitable for swimming” by Vancouver Coastal Health, which recommends boaters shower or wash their hands after being out on the water.

It’s a problem that a new collaborative study aims to solve.

The two-year False Creek water quality assessment project is a joint effort between Metro Vancouver, the City of Vancouver, the False Creek Friends Society and the Raincoast Conservation Foundation.
