The Indiana Parole Board has recommended denying clemency for death row inmate Roy Lee Ward.
He was convicted of the rape and murder of 15-year-old Stacy Payne back in 2001 in Spencer County.
On Monday, a clemency hearing was held for those in favor and against the execution.
The five-member Indiana State Parole Board sat through two sessions.
The first included Ward’s defense team.
Family and first responders spoke during the second one.
With the Parole Board’s recommendation, it is likely Governor Braun will carry on the execution set for October 10.
