While the Triad's first Piggly Wiggly location did not open in Greensboro this summer as previously projected, the developers expect the grocery store to open by Thanksgiving, with new restaurants in the Freeman Mill Square shopping center to follow.

Shehzad Quamar, who is developing the Piggly Wiggly along with Shahzad Akbar, said the renovation of the 14,000-square-foot space is almost complete and the developers are going through the inspections process with the city of Greensboro. Once that is complete and the store passes the health department inspection, the team will start stocking the store and hiring employees, which Quamar said he hopes will begin by Nov. 1.
